《老人与海》也告诉我们，人不抱希望是傻的，即使生活欺骗了我们也应乐观对待。所以我对桑提亚哥和他的草鱼，和正对生活失望，找不到方向的人送上一首诗：“假如生活欺骗了你，不要悲伤，不要心急，相信吧，快乐的日子将会来临。心儿永远向往未来，一切都是瞬息，一切都将会过去。而那过去了的就会成为永远的怀恋。”
